Objectives:  TORUS is one of eight French projects selected among the 120 selected for more than 575 candidatures. Almost one million euros will be financed by the European Union in the framework of Erasmus + Capacity Building. This program funds “transnational partnerships between educational institutions and organizations, training and youth programs in order, promoting cooperation and development”. TORUS funded for 3 years, gathered around the University of Toulouse 2 Jean Jaures, the international school of information processing sciences (EISTI, Pau campus), University of Ferrara in Italy, University Brussels Vrije in Belgium, Vietnam National University in Hanoi, the Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh and two Thailand institutions: Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Pathumthani and Walailak University in Nakhon Si Thammarat.

The ambition of TORUS is to develop research on cloud computing in the environmental sciences and promote its education in the countries of South East Asian partners.

Schematically, cloud computing consists of pooling hardware and software resources via the Internet. It reduces the costs of processing and storage of information in a simplified environment accessible to all. It is also an operational response to the generalized problems of Big Data – also today major issue of Computer Science. This simplification and cost reduction offer methodological possibilities not previously explored (e.g. test many models, including in the area of Big Data for data reduction to compare their relevance). The strategy of the project that aims at organizing thematic workshops and practical workshops applied to the environment is a real innovation responding to demands now clearly identified with our partners. Still little teaching of cloud computing, recent paradigm of computer science, requires a major theoretical investment before being mobilized by the practice on concrete projects. Projects that will have at heart to strengthen the links between education, research and environmental engineering. TORUS is responding to regional priorities set in the framework of ERASMUS + projects. Besides the theoretical and requested practical skills TORUS develop the specifications for future Masters level training with our partners and publish two reference books (education, scientific), and also deliver practical solutions deployed at three basic levels of cloud computing (infrastructure, platform and software) in the partner countries with computer hardware funded by the project.

About Excursion (SAPA Field Trip)

Sa Pa District is located in Lào Cai Province, north-west Vietnam, and 380 km north-west of Hanoi, close to the border with China. The Hoàng Liên Son range of mountains dominates the district, which is at the eastern extremity of the Himalayas. This range includes Vietnam’s highest mountain, Fan Si Pan, at a height of 3143 m above sea level. The town of Sa Pa lies at an altitude of about 1500 meters (4921 feet) above sea level.

The climate is moderate and rainy in summer (May—August), and foggy and cold with occasional snowfalls in winter. Sa Pa is a quiet mountain town and home to a great diversity of ethnic minority peoples. The total population of 36,000 consists mostly of minority groups. Besides the Kinh (Viet) people (15%) there are mainly 5 ethnic groups in Sapa: Hmong 52%, Dao 25%, Tay 5%, Giay 2% and a small number of Xa Pho. Approximately 7,000 live in Sapa, the other 36,000 being scattered in small communes throughout the district.

In the business world, people who are able to motivate themselves as well as people around them have a better chance of advancing in their career. Motivation may seem like a simple thing to achieve, but sometimes it is difficult to keep going and be productive.

Motivational skills in the workplace can be defined as actions or strategies that will elicit a desired behavior or response by a stakeholder. Motivational tactics will vary given the style of the motivator, their relationship with the target of the motivation and the personality of the individual to be motivated.

Motivating others  is an important skill for managers is to be able to motivate other workers. There are many different methods that can be used to increase motivation. Giving out rewards for good work can be a great way to motivate employees to work harder. While money and other financial rewards are nice, some people are motivated by the chance of being recognized for their skills. In addition to motivating others, managers and other employees can benefit from being able to motivate themselves. Having goals that are being worked toward can be a great way for a person to motivate themselves to work harder. When a person is able to identify things that make them stronger, it can really help with motivation.

Benefit of motivating:

  • Reduces boredom.
  • Brings new prospects and revenues.
  • Leads to job satisfaction and mental peace.
  • Avoids jealousy and prejudice amongst team.
  • Helps to achieve deadlines faster.

Ways of motivating:

  • Offering perks and incentives regularly
  • Inceptives may not always be monetary
  • For old employees, a friendly and supportive atmosphere matters
  • To retain old employees, appraisals works the best
  • Organizing events and programs to reduce monotony
  • Sending employees on site.
  • Giving them new challenges apart from their daily tasks
  • Appreciating their hard work.

Steps in the Motivational Process:

  1. Assessing the preferences and personality characteristics of the individual or group to be motivated.
  2. Defining motivational strategies appropriate for that target.
  3. Conveying expectations for performance to or achieving desired outcomes from the object of the motivation.
  4. Communicating benefits, rewards or sanctions if expectations are (or are not) met.
  5. Providing feedback regarding progress or lack of progress towards desired outcomes.
  6. Addressing problems or obstacles that are limiting success.
  7. Providing rewards for desired outcomes.
  8. Issuing warnings prior to enacting sanctions.
  9. Publicly recognizing others who have responded in the desired manner.

THÔNG BÁO TUYỂN NGHIÊN CỨU SINH CHO DỰ ÁN

Trung tâm công nghệ tích hợp liên ngành giám sát hiện trường (Trung tâm FIMO), trường Đại học Công nghệ, Đại học quốc gia Hà Nội có chức năng chính là nghiên cứu, phát triển và triển khai các sản phẩm khoa học công nghệ trong lĩnh vực Công nghệ tích hợp liên ngành phục vụ quản lý giám sát tài nguyên môi trường và kinh tế ‐ xã hội (giám sát hiện trường) và các lĩnh vực liên quan.
Dự án TORUS (Toward an Open Resource Using Service) là dự án thuộc chương trình: “Đẩy mạnh hợp tác và phát triển xuyên quốc gia giữa các tổ chức giáo dục và các tổ chức, chương trình đào tạo giáo dục đại học, thanh niên” của Cộng đồng Châu Âu ‐ EC. Dự án kéo dài trong 3 năm (từ 2016 – 2018), là sự hợp tác của các trường, các viện nghiên cứu bao gồm: trường Đại học Toulouse 2 Jean Jaurès; trường học viện quốc tế về khoa học xử lý thông tin (EISTI, Pháp); Đại học Ferrara, Ý; Trường đại học Tự do – VUB (Vương quốc Bỉ); Trường đại học Công nghệ, Đại học quốc gia Hà Nội (VNU‐UET); trường Đại học Nông Lâm Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh; Học viện công nghệ châu Á (AIT), Thái Lan; và trường đại học Walailak, Thái Lan. Mục tiêu của dự án là: Nghiên cứu về điện toán đám mây trong các ngành khoa học môi trường và thúc đẩy giáo dục, ứng dụng về điện toán đám mây ở các quốc gia của các đối tác Đông Nam Á.

Trong khuôn khổ dự án TORUS, Trung tâm FIMO tìm kiếm các ứng viên nghiên cứu sinh làm việc trong khuôn khổ dự án xây dựng hạ tầng đám mây phục vụ việc tiền xử, lưu trữ, chia sẻ, phân tích dữ liệu môi trường, không gian.

MÔ TẢ CÔNG VIỆC, HƯỚNG NGHIÊN CỨU TRONG DỰ ÁN
Nghiên cứu sinh được tuyển dụng làm NCS nghiên cứu, xây dựng hạ tầng đám mây (CC) phục vụ việc tiền xử lý, lưu trữ, chia sẻ, phân tích dữ liệu môi trường/ không gian bao gồm các chủ đề, hướng nghiên cứu sau:

 Xây dựng hạ tầng phần cứng thành đám mây.
 Xây dựng, phát triển các platform cho người dùng.
 Xây dựng, phát triển các service chia sẻ dữ liệu với người dùng và ứng dụng bên thứ 3.
 Phát triển các dịch vụ phần mềm.

YÊU CẦU
 Học viên cao học năm cuối, thạc sỹ, đang thực hiện nghiên cứu sinh (năm thứ nhất hoặc năm thứ hai) chuyên ngành về: công nghệ thông tin, khoa học máy tính, viễn thám, hệ thông tin địa lý hoặc môi trường.
 Có quan tâm, mong muốn được thực hiện luận án theo hướng ứng dụng, phát triển CC.

On 10th December, FIMO welcomed TORUS project team in a working visit within a TORUS project.

In the working visit, The two sides had an Discussion about FIMO Infrastructure and the First Workshop. And then, TORUS project team visited FIMO Infrastructure inclusion FIMO server and FIMO ground receiving station. At here, Mr Pham Ngoc Hai introduced the production process, process capacities and oriented development of FIMO in using this Infrastructure.

FIMO held the Vietnam Special Session in the 2nd International Conference on Remote Sensing Applications in Tropical and Subtropical Areas

Compared to mid- and high-latitude areas, the tropical and subtropical region, due to its special climate, presents an all-year-round cloudy and rainy climate feature with a very long rainy season and rich precipitation even in short-term dry season. Besides, natural disasters, such as typhoon, earthquake, tsunami and flood, occur frequently in this region because of its special meteorological environment. Therefore, simple use of optical remote sensing will be greatly limited in tropical and subtropical region. Multi-source remote sensing techniques, e.g. synthetic aperture radar (SAR), with their ability to work in all day and all weather conditions, have distinctive advantages in this region. Unfortunately, most countries located in the tropical and subtropical region are developing countries, who are constrained by limited capability of remote sensing technologies. Therefore, there is an urgent need to establish a comprehensive platform for discussion and promotion of advanced remote sensing applications in this region.

The 2nd International Conference on Remote Sensing Applications in Tropical and Subtropical Areas was held by Institute of Space and Earth Information Science, The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 8-10 December 2015. The main topics of the conference are Urban Environment, Tropical Rainforest, Atmosphere, Land Use/Land Cover Change, Oceanography, Natural Disasters, Clouds Handling, Coastal Environment. FIMO held the Special Vietnam Session in this conference. This session includes the following presentations:

  • Field Informatics: Application of ICT to Environment Management and Disaster Mitigation
  • Paddy rice extraction by using temporal satellite image and similarity index
  • Comparison of several widely-used classifiers for land-cover using Landsat-8 images in Red Delta River: a case study in Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province, Vietnam
  • Air pollution mapping from high spatial resolution satellite images: a case study in Hanoi
  • Object based image analysis for mapping land-cover in Hue city for World culture heritage conservation

Nằm trong khuôn khổ các hoạt động văn hóa – thể thao tổng kết năm cũ 2015, chiều ngày 09/12, tại sân vận động Cổ Nhuế đã diễn ra trận đấu giao hữu bóng đá nam giữa CLB FIMOFC và CENMAFC.

Với lối chơi đẹp mắt nhưng đầy tính kỷ luật, ngay đầu hiệp 1 của trận đấu, CENMAFC có phần áp đảo và sớm có bàn thắng mở tỷ số do đường sự bất cẩn của hậu vệ FIMOFC. Đến phút thứ 12 của trận đấu một lần nữa với hàng thủ ngớ nghênh của hậu vệ cánh phải FIMOFC đã chuyển ngang để tiền đạo CENMAFC cướp được bóng sút tung lưới thủ môn Đỗ Chung lần đầu tiên trấn gữi khung thành thay cho thủ môn Phan Thanh bị chấn thương dài hạn, tỉ số đã là 2 – 0 dành cho CENMAFC.

Tuy nhiên, khi có được 2 bàn đội CENMAFC có phần trùng xuống. FIMOFC đã tổ chức lại đội hình và lối chơi có phần lấn lướt. Sau nhiều pha tấn công áp đảo, FIMOFC có bàn thắng rút ngắn tỉ số với cú sút xa rất đẹp của tiền đạo Thành Đào.

Bước sang hiệp 2 với sự tự tin có được bàn tháng ở cuối hiệp 1, các cầu thủ FIMOFC đã lấn lướt hoàn toàn các cầu thủ CENMAFC và tung ra không biết bao nhiêu pha dứt điểm, hết xà ngang rồi đến cột dọc đã từ chối bàn thắng của các cầu thủ FIMOFC. Một hiệp đấu không may mắn cho các cầu thủ FIMOFC. Kết thúc trận đấu, CENMAFC dành thắng với tỉ số 2 – 1.

Trận giao hữu bóng đá không chỉ góp phần làm cho không khí chào đón năm mới thêm sôi nổi, phong phú mà còn làm cho tinh thần giao lưu, đoàn kết trong các lĩnh vực càng trở nên thắm thiết hơn.

FIMO tròn 2 tuổi

Kính gửi các thầy cô và các bạn FIMO,

Hôm qua ngày 3/12/2015 là kỷ niệm tròn 2 năm từ ngày thành lập FIMO.

Xin chân thành cảm ơn tất cả các thầy cô và các bạn đã giành thời gian để tham dự buổi tiệc nhỏ và ấm áp nhân dịp FIMO tròn 2 tuổi diễn ra tối qua 3/12/2015.

FIMO đã có những bước tiến trong 2 năm vừa qua nhờ vào sự đóng góp của các thầy cô, các anh chị em trong FIMO, các bạn nghiên cứu sinh, học viên cao học và sinh viên.

Với lịch sử phát triển của một tổ chức thì 2 năm là quá ngắn ngủi. FIMO đang giống như một đứa trẻ lên 2 tuổi, đang trong giai đoạn HỌC ĐI và HỌC NÓI. HỌC ĐI tức là chúng ta đang từng bước khẳng định hướng nghiên cứu phát triển cho đội ngũ FIMO, song song với việc xây dựng các nhóm nghiên cứu như SDI, Air Pollution Monitoring, Landcover/Landuse Change, Rice Monitoring, ProjectKit, Forest Fire Monitoring,…HỌC NÓI tức là việc cố gắng xây dựng thương hiệu FIMO trong lĩnh vực khoa học công nghệ bằng cách cố gắng nghiên cứu phát triển ra những sản phẩm chất lượng tốt, đột phá để có được lòng tin từ cộng đồng nghiên cứu, các đối tác và các nhà quản lý.

2 tuổi mới chỉ là bắt đầu, 5 tuổi mới là đi vững, nói sõi, 10 tuổi mới đọc thông viết thạo, 15 tuổi mới là thuộc làu kinh sử, 20 tuổi mới có chút công danh ở đời.

Xin cảm ơn tất cả mọi người đã đồng hành cùng FIMO.

FIMO’s Birthday Party – For all members born in November

On Thursday, November 30th, 2015, FIMO had a birthday party to celebrate 2 members who were born in this month. This activity is frequently expressed concern, sharing, encouragement of centers with cultural and spiritual life of the members of the team; while creating opportunities for people to join the exchange, sharing and further tightening of solidarity. It includes:

  • Nguyen Quoc Huy.
  • Dinh Thi Dieu.

The party was organized in the staff canteen of UET (University of Engineering and Technology). Guests in attendance included Prof. Pham Van Cu, Dr. Bui Quang Hung (Vice Director of FIMO Center), Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhat Thanh (Office Manager of FIMO Center).
